Denmark

After a breakfast and a walk in Lubeck we set off to Puttgarden to take the ferry to Denmark. We arrived at about midday and Si remembered that he wanted to visit an island called Fejo off the coast -- something he vaguely remembered being mentioned as authentic Denmark. We should have heard warning bells when the tourist information only had a small brochure in Danish, but we proceeded to the tiniest, most insignificant island ever. The only notable thing about it was the smell and the vast numbers of jellyfish contained in its waters. We quickly made the return ferry and carried on to spend the night in the pleasant town of Koge. From there we went to the fabulous Riskalde Viking Ship Museum and on to the north of Zealand to visit the castle in Helsingor where Hamlet was based and then to camp in Niva. We drove to Copenhagen early the next morning to visit part of the National Museum, the underwhelming Little Mermaid, have a canal tour, go to the working commune in Christiania and climb the spiral of the cathedral for stunning views of the city. We then took the longest bridge in Europe across to Malmo, Sweden, where the adventure continues . . . E

Erin, You long lost Danish roots are showing the the "dress-up" picture. Glad you are safe in the northern part of Europe. What did Simon get to wear. I will sort out our pictures so you can see the. Some are great fun.

Love,
Alanna
