Sweden

We arrived in Sweden late in the day and found a campground for the evening -- right next to the golf museum! We obviously had to visit the museum the next morning, which would have been more interesting if the whole thing hadn´t been in Swedish. We had spoken to my friend, Anna, who had come as an exchange student to Creek my senior year, who was up in Stromstad, near Norway. We clearly had to go visit her and meet her boyfriend, Magnus. We stopped a couple of times along the way, in Varberg to look around the castle and then in Gothenburg, which was a bit crazy as we didn´t realise it was hosting the European Athletics Championships! We eventually fought our way out through traffic and made it to Anna´s. After a lovely dinner and good night we carried on to Vastena, via Jönköping and the excellent John Bauer museum, where we were fortunate enough to be there for the crayfish festival, an annual event celebrating the start of the crayfish season. We were unable to actually eat any crayfish, which was a minor disappointment. From there we carried on to Stockholm, where we stayed with our friend Jenny´s brother and sister-in-law, Alexander and YuFeng. We went up to the high points for the view, visited the Skansen outdoor museum and wandered around Gamla Stan, the old town. The night was topped off with an all-you-can-eat Thai buffet! We had a nice, leisurly start to the morning before driving to Gristlehamn to catch the ferry to the Finnish Åland islands. E

I am happy that you and the "Swedish meatball" were able to connect. I have very fond memories of Anna.
