Estonia

Once we finally made it into Estonia proper with our car we visited the Museum of Occupation in Tallin before heading out to an island off the west coast called Saaremaa. We spent the night there, attempting to eat in a windmill before deciding to have a BBQ as the campsite was on the beach. We drove down to the peninsula to
see the WWII monuments and the lighthouse before walking hand-in-hand around the meteorite crater (legend has it that if you do you will stay together forever!) We then drove on to a town called Viljandi where I spent a few hours wandering while Si attempted to sleep off a sore throat. The next day we went to Soomaa National Park. The guide book said it was possible to do a floating sauna down the river but we
were unable to contact the guy who arranges it. Instead we did a couple of walks -- it was an absolutely gorgeous day and the land is bog and forest and meadowland, so it was good to be out. We then went to Tartu, where we stayed in a university dorm and had dinner in a converted gunpowder cellar near the Angel and Devil bridges before leaving early the next morning to try to cross the border.
We had a colour photocopy of the form we need and the embassy-stamped details from the DVLA, so we had our fingers crossed. There was no apparent problem (this was probably facilitated by the car registered in New Zealand ahead of us in the queue!) and we drove straight into Latvia. E

Checking daily to see what adventure is going on. Hope Simon's sore throat was short lived.

Hoz, I'm liking the haircut (it's good to see you've finally got over the denial).

Sounds like you're both having fun, Growler sends his regards (to Erin).
